Gaming Catalyst Program: Fostering Growth Through Strategic Investment
The GCP, requesting an allocation of 200 million ARB tokens valued at approximately $426 million over a span of two years, arrives at a pivotal juncture for Arbitrum, coinciding with an impending token unlock. Scheduled for March 16, this unlock will release around 673.5 million tokens worth $1.34 billion to the team and advisors, followed by a larger unlock of 1.1 billion tokens.
At the core of the GCP lies the ambition to position Arbitrum as the preferred platform for game developers, emphasizing sustainable ecosystem development over immediate solutions. By attracting and nurturing high-quality game developers, the program aims to cultivate a thriving gaming environment on the Arbitrum network.
To incentivize development, a portion of the allocated funds will be co-invested in promising game studios and projects, showcasing the network’s commitment to fostering innovation.
Gaming Catalyst Program: Setting Lofty Goals for Success
The program sets lofty targets, including aspirations to dominate the on-chain gaming space, processing hundreds of applications from builders, attracting over 20% of Web3 games to Arbitrum, launching numerous new Orbits (Arbitrum’s sidechains), and achieving a higher number of net migrations compared to other layer-2 networks.
Infrastructure development is also a key focus, with 40 million ARB tokens earmarked for infrastructure bounties. These rewards will be distributed on a per-proposal basis to support gaming infrastructure within Arbitrum, incentivizing developers to contribute to the network’s growth.
