Creature World: NFT collection as a social experiment in Web 3.0
During the pandemic, when the whole world was on pause, the artist Danny Cole decided to implement the idea of creating a fabulous world with Creatures, in which everyone can participate in various social experiments. And today Creature World is a whole ecosystem!
Once launched, the project became an overnight success. Since its release, the digital elements of the collection have been sold out in the first 13 minutes, and it is now one of the 50 best-selling digital art collections of all time. What is Creature World?
Creature World is a digital collection of 10,000 unique immersive paintings by New York NFT artist Danny Cole, dedicated to bringing the dream world to life. The collection is based on the Ethereum blockchain and has an ERC-721 token standard.
The main concept of the project is The Creature which manifests the universal human spirit that exists without age, gender or nation.
The collection transfers the user into a kind of magical dimension of love, divine intervention, and opportunity. The NFT collections serve as a ticket for entry into the world of creatures, in which the works of art receive development and renewal depending on the decision made by the user.
Also interesting is the unique way of distributing Creature World. For a mint, participants had to join a small metaverse and complete an easy task. After that they had access to the mint page of the collection.
Moreover, the project can be considered experimental. So far, three experiments have been conducted:
- Traveling Creature Memories,
- Creature Playground,
- The Second Journey: The Creature Finds Its Voice.
In each of the experiments, the owners had to achieve the goal together, forming groups of 5 people, or at least interact with one or more users.
In The Second Journey: The Creature Finds Its Voice, for example, the idea was to add value to the work. And the Traveling Creature Memories and Creature Playground experiments were based on the idea of the value of social contact between users. Back then, users had to interact together, that is, send 5 items to another user and trust a stranger on the team to manage a wallet with NFTs.
Creature World in numbers
- The collection was released on August 28, 2021.
- NFT mint cost each user 0.1 ETH.
- The total volume of secondary sales exceeded 36k ETH (more than $56 million at the current exchange rate).
- Floor price is 0.24 ETH (about $370).
- Average sales range from 0.2 ETH to 0.3 ETH.
- The most expensive #877 was sold on September 30, 2021 for 50 ETH ($150k at the time of sale).
- Total 6,020 unique holders (60%). This shows the low chances of whales interconnection within the project. Thus, the risk of artificial project management from the inside is minimal.
- Only about 2% of the collection (242 pieces out of 10,000) are for sale, among them the offers range from 0.24 ETH to 3 ETH. This shows that almost all holders see the project as a great investment prospect and are not in a hurry to part with their assets at a lower price.

Creature World types and attributes
The characters of Creature World are somewhat similar to humans. But their face shape is more rounded, and the eyes of almost all characters are shaped like a regular circle. The pupils are all different, they can be small, or they can be almost close to the size of the creatures’ eyes themselves. All of the creatures have different background colors and patterns, as well as different colors of skin. Sometimes, their skin resembles black and white stripes, like a zebra (but they are brighter colors, for instance, beige and purple stripes). Creature World NFTs have quite a cartoon look, like Tom and Jerry or Donald Duck from the well-known Disney cartoons.
The collection is based on 238 different attributes which are divided into 8 categories:

- Outfit (17 types),
- Overlay (34 types).
Who created Creature World?
The Creature World project was created by NFT artist Danny Cole. The style of his work represents a parallel three-dimensional world with fabulous and often absurd creatures.
Before entering the NFT space, Danny gained a lot of experience in animated art, something he’s been striving for since childhood. He has also held many professional exhibitions in New York City, working with stars such as Kanye West and Ben Rittenhouse. In addition, he has designed animated illustrations for Portugal and performed “A Creature Story” live art in Portugal.
Danny’s journey to Creature World began at the age of 9, when he was drawing in his school bedroom the dream world he escaped to since his childhood. And this world of his was backed by the youth culture of New York, where the young artist moved at 18, dropping out of college. Initially, his creatures were reflected in graffiti, clothing and paper. Crowds of people came to his exhibitions, but things changed during the Covid-19 world pandemic. Then Danny decided to bring his creatures to life digitally. So, in 2021 the Creature World collection was released.

The idea of the project is quite unique and specific. The author has put the following concept into his project: 10,000 digital works of art send us on an unending adventure into the neighboring Creature World. This adventure allows you to travel with a myriad of possibilities and ways of getting exciting expirience in the digital universes where you live as a Creature.

Creature World Roadmap
Creature World is very different from other NFT projects because the team does not have a common roadmap. It is quite obvious that Danny Cole wants his plans to remain a surprise and excite the community, gradually revealing secrets. Creature World Ecosystem
The Creature World ecosystem includes three NFT collections that have been released as experiments. They are Traveling Creature Memories and Creature Playground, and the latest, Crowd was not released until March 3, 2023. Creature World’s clothing collection has also been launched.
Traveling Creature Memories
The Traveling Creature Memories collection was released as an experiment on March 22, 2022 with the same name. The purpose of the experiment was as follows:
- Creature World NFT owners were given the airdrop with 5 Traveling Creature items.
- They had to send them to another owner of the main collection within 2 hours.
- After the successful transfer of the token to another owner, the original collector received The Traveling Creature NFT.
In this way, users collectively determined the fate of the artworks in this collection, depending on whom they chose to interact with. Together, the holders turn small interactions into something that stays with us forever, namely the creation of one of the five objects.

Creature Playground
The Creature Playground collection is also related to the experiment which took place on September 2-27, 2021:
- The owners were randomly sent NFTs as an airdrop, the meaning of which will only appear if 7 users with different parts unite,
- To do this, everyone had to trust one of them to control the wallet in order to collect the 7 Creature Playground items.
- However, this experiment was already assisted by a smart contract to create a multisignature wallet.
However, the most important goal of this experiment was not the creation of a wallet, but the relationships formed in the process. Users banded together openly and with one common purpose in mind. At the same time, each user saw how helpful everyone was throughout the process.

- A total of 8 unique images with a circulation of 8,498 tokens.
- Trading volume on the secondary markets exceeds 314 ETH.

Crowd
Crowd is an additional NFT collection that was dropped on March 3, 2023. This resulted in the minting of 3,845 generated NFTs, on which you can see a variety of combinations of creatures of each color.

- The price of a mint was 0.029 ETH.
- Minting was completed within a day.
- To date, just 3 days after the mint, the volume of secondary sales has exceeded 580 ETH,
- Floor price is 0.01 ETH.
Creature World clothing line
The Creature World clothing brand was launched in 2022. There are mostly sweaters, t-shirts, hats, and jackets that make the base of it. The merch is presented in the brand’s signature bright colors, and each item is marked with one of 9,999 creatures. At the moment, the cheapest items are t-shirts, which sell for $35 on Store Creature World.
How much do Creature Worlds cost?
The collection was released on August 28, 2021. NFT mint cost each user 0.1 ETH. How has the project developed since then?
To visualize the price dynamics, we made a slice of the average price for 1 NFT:
- in September 2021: 2.3 ETH,
- in January 2022: 1.4 ETH,
- in April 2022: 0.6 ETH,
- in October 2022: 0.3 ETH,
- in December 2022: 0.3 ETH.
Now (March 6, 2023) the minimum price is 0.24 ETH. On average, the latest sales range from 0.2 to 0.3 ETH. And the total volume of secondary sales amounted to more than 36k ETH (about $56 million).

- #877 was sold on September 30, 2021 for 50 ETH ($150k at the time of sale),

- #1299 was sold on August 30 for 29 ETH ($94k at the time of sale).
